Work permit
Employers and sponsors. The employer applies, not the employee.
A short-term permit lasts up to eleven months and suits temporary work or a training attachment. A long-term permit lasts up to three years, and the employer must show that no resident or Barbadian national is capable and willing to do the job.
How to apply
- 1 The employer prepares a cover letter setting out the nature of the business, the length of employment and the employment category.
- 2 Complete Form C-3 for a short-term permit, or Forms C-1 and C-2 for a long-term permit.
- 3 Pay the $300 application fee.
- 4 Submit everything together — incomplete applications are delayed.
- 5 Pay the final fee once the permit is approved.
What you need
Bring the original of every document as well as a photocopy.
- Employer's cover letter
- Form C-3 if short-term permit
- Forms C-1 and C-2 if long-term permit
- Four passport photographs
- Copy of the passport bio-data page
- Completed medical form with X-ray report if long-term permit
- Two character references if long-term permit
- Evidence of qualifications if long-term permit
- Proof of funds transferred in line with Central Bank rules, and business registration if establishing a business
Worth knowing
- Training attachments do not attract a final fee.
